This work from my Kwetu (Home) series was shot outside a hotel near Oslo Airport, where I was quarantined following the outbreak of the Omicron variant in late 2021. On the same day the World Health Organization made its announcement, imposed travel bans on southern Africa in response to the new variant. The bans highlighted deep inequalities in global health responses and the complexities of defining “home” during times of crisis.
